I've been so excited to share this wedding. Maddy and Travis tied the knot at Canopy Creek Farm at the end of July, and from start to finish, it was such a joy to be a part of.
The day started with everyone getting ready on-site, and you could feel the excitement from the moment I walked in. The girls spent the morning laughing together while putting the finishing touches on hair and makeup, and the guys were just as excited on the other side of the venue. There was such an easygoing, joyful atmosphere that carried throughout the entire day.
One of my favorite parts of every wedding is watching all of the little moments happen naturally. A proud dad seeing his daughter in her dress, a quiet hug from mom before it's time to walk down the aisle, friends helping button a dress or straighten a tie. Those moments may only last a few seconds, but they're the ones that end up meaning so much years later.
The weather definitely kept us guessing. It was sunny all day, but just as the ceremony began, a light summer rain started to fall. It wasn't enough to stop anything or send everyone running. Instead, it became part of the story. Maddy and Travis stood together, said their vows, and by the time they were officially husband and wife, the rain had already moved on.
As beautiful as the ceremony was, I don't think anything could top the sunset we got that evening.
The skies cleared, the sun dropped lower, and Canopy Creek Farm absolutely glowed. We snuck away for golden hour portraits, and it was one of those evenings photographers hope for. The light was soft, the fields looked beautiful, and Maddy and Travis finally had a chance to slow down and soak in the fact that they were married. Those quiet moments away from the reception are always some of my favorites because everything else fades into the background for a little while.
Canopy Creek Farm is such a beautiful venue for couples getting married in southwest Ohio. Between the open fields, peaceful pond, charming barn, and all of the little pockets around the property, there are so many beautiful places for portraits without ever leaving the venue. It's easy to see why it's become such a popular wedding venue in the Dayton area.
Looking back through this gallery, I keep coming back to how much joy filled the day. There were happy tears, lots of laughter, hugs from family and friends, and so many moments where Maddy and Travis were simply enjoying being together. Those are the kinds of weddings I love photographing because they aren't about perfect timelines or perfect weather. They're about celebrating the people who matter most.
Maddy and Travis, thank you for trusting me to capture such an important chapter of your story.
